Wow, I really love this piece. The lines are so elegant, the figure so fluid and evocative, the composition gives it such depth, and the color work is very emotional. Great illustration . . . I really enjoyed it!
Illustrators ARE artists. One may not be considered "fine art" but both are respectable art venues. This has been a long standing argument among art snobs. You, my dear are an artist :)
Welcome. My drawings and paintings are an intimate connecting between beauty and strength in nature.
I work from observation, in my home studio, in a variety of mediums. Often the subject matter is feminine and tender, which I capture with intense colour and bold marks. I apply paint in broad brush strokes, building texture and layers in my paintings. The Protea is often central in my work. This robust plant is native to South Africa and thrives in Australia. I was born in South Africa in 1973 and immigrated to Melbourne, Australia, in 2007. I studied commercial art and design in Cape Town, which led to a career as an art director in advertising in London. I have travelled extensively in Europe and Asia. My career as a freelance illustrator started in Melbourne in 2008 when I chose to work for myself from home around my children and family.
My illustration work has been published and produced in Australia and internationally. I have developed my painting and drawing practise through various art courses and have been fortunate enough to exhibit my work in Melbourne. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Art at the University of Victoria, majoring in sociology.

Your work is so lovely!! Beautiful!
I feel like we are all pretending that. Our day will come. Keep up the good work!
Digital monoprint or monoprint? Lovely in any case, beautiful composition and palette.
Lovely!
Though, I don't see the difference in being an artist and an illustrator. The business end of it is really the only distinguisher.
